    Mariner 2.5 promax - Merc 2.4 fishing mid/adapter compatibility

Buddy of mine has a 2.5 EFI 225HP mariner that somehow sheared a couple lower unit studs, broke the mid casting and busted the driveshaft.

We have another lower for it, and I've got a pile of 2.4 fishing midsections.

The mids look the same, except for instead of the 2 big rectangle exhaust holes up top, the promax has 2 small round holes drilled on each side, and a big round port on one side with a rubber boot that steps over to the middle to exit the skirt.

It appears that the 2.5 has a 2 piece adapter on it, but there is a water fitting near the rearmost bolt that the 2.4 adapters don't seem to have.

What do I need to do to use one of my 2.4 mids on this thing?

If u had matching pair 2.4 plates , you can open exhaust holes to match PM block and wala, that what I did. Been great

Just swap the 225 plates onto the other mid. Its kind of a pita and you'll need the gaskets too.

OK...basically it looks like I'm just gonna swap the can....which is a pain because everything needs to come apart. Do I need to cut that extra round hole in the can for the exhaust? The old setup appears to still have the liner, so I'll put that back.

Just stock 225 gaskets for the adapter or is there some stupid hybrid bull**** i'll need to figure out?

The promax uses the metal reinforced base gaskets, you need two.
