1985 merc 200 - just rebuilt carbs.. no start

Hi all - it puffs and runs a tiny bit when i try starter fluid. Carbs squeaky clean- also i cant exactly recall but 99% sure, the upper carb jets that sit up top and face wd - I have it like so:

    Blank - Jet (top carb)
    Jet - Jet (middle)
Jet - Blank) (Lower carb) -

Also think i "might" have forgotten about the enricher tube - its all plugged but I have the front baffle/box removed so I can see into carbs and look for any leaks.

I set the floats parallel to the body inverted (they hang out about 1-2mm -

is this correct? carbs are stamped 1374-7561 -

Sorry forgot to grab the s/n!

I pulled plugs and cleaned the round center electrode things - they were a little fouled.. Gonna try new gas next time im there - I felt a little buzz/shock on my hand when I was hot wiring the starter from the side of the motor.. i might crank it at night to see if there are any sparks.. Seems like there might be a leak somewhere in the wires or something - it shouldnt do that right??

Can you smell gas after a cupple cranks.

I guess we we can start with last repair. Are all the parts in nothing left out and adjustment screws set correctly or in last operating condition.

yeah guy said it wouldnt idle for a ehile, carbs were gunked up. I found the jetting chart and confirmed these are WH22 carbs so will follow that thanks. I think he mucked with idle screw cos it was REALLY jammed against the cables but 1/8 of an inch!

Sounds like more problems than just carbs if you really never herd it run and have to hot wire the SIDEof the motor and getting shocked and tubes are gunked up and screws are cranked on.

I think ur describing the bowl vent jets , wont cause ur issue ,,
Have u checked spark? , did u forget a float haha, gonna need to know what kind of test u have done so far , pump bulb real hard and hold pressure on it and c if carbs puke out the front, then pull plug and do spark and gap test to start with

Put your hand over one carb and crank to choke it. I you don't get gas on your hand the bowls are dry. If you do get gas and it doesn't fire you don't have spark.
