So, when the black guy sings the song it's "ironic" and when the white lady sings the same song it's "racist".... I get it now.

The song was also recorded by the black singer and civil rights activist Paul Robeson, although “one has to think that Robeson’s take on the lyrics was decidedly ironic,” wrote Steven Carl Tracy in “Hot Music, Ragmentation and the Bluing of American Literature.”

As much or more as I don't like the Flyers when we're playing them in Philadelphia, I always thoroughly enjoyed the live and recorded song , even at the Spectrum.

It's terrible how modern cultures demonize so many famous people, for not adhering to modern day sensitivities.

Like... c'mon. She lived in the 1930's... Of course what someone did 90 years ago is going to be of a different culture than what we live in today.

They used to say famous people are worth more after they're gone... Like their artwork, songs, etc... Not anymore.
If only modern day folks knew what Picasso did for side hobbies haha.

Again I am glad I am old. This place is going to implode and probably in the not so distant future. This is not the world I grew up in.

Most people need to muster courage and stop being so damn weak. If we focus on bad moments to define us we will all be bad and no one will be good. Dumb as it gets

Might as well throw away most of our health care treatments and tech. It was all developed and learned under EXTREMELY non PC circumstance so we cant use it anymore
