one sweet motor
remember when cars had chrome bumpers, this motor reminds me of those times. my latest project, 1966 950 ss short shaft.

runs just fine. a very well maintained engine. one owner, I re-painted, put n.o.s. decals and emblem, polished her up.

That is a good looking I6. The lower unit looks a bit more recent than the rest.

I have a price list that shows the SS and standard battery ignition versions were sold concurrently, not consecutively.

The lower is newer. The engine will go on the wildcat when I get back to that.
Didn't the SS stand for solid state? Would SS be on the Standard battery ignition?
The descale set that I have has 2 lightning bolts for the SS. Was under the under standing that was the next year that they did that.John Dorn

these decals were made late 66, I guess, when they came out with newer type ignition. I have a couple sets of n.o.s. decals, don't think the repos are as nice as original.

The 1100 was the first of the J class motors that I can recall. I don't remember the displacement but I think it was less than 99ci.

For a couple of years J class ran combined with I class. Then the 1250s came out and I class kind of faded away. The only I class left was UI.

UIM didn't recognize J right away and OI remained the top class in Europe. Even when ON came to be a UIM class, OI remained popular in Europe.
