The Bob's is similar to this, except it has a hose going to the water pump as pictured above. This rare JC housing has welded in channels to guide the water to the pump. Either way, they both work the same.

Sure Bob's has a kit. Google Bob's Machine or Bob's Bigfoot and take a look.

I have seen people plug the top two factory holes, then cut the two under that into one slot with a die grinder, and if cavity behind it is lower, you can gain some there too. Still not the same as surfacing, but it will help the speed.

You had better. One of, if not the most important gauge you can have. Keep it up top where it is the first gauge you look at. If you see the WP too low or if the needle starts fluctuating, that is a good indicator you are too high!

Yea second that i wouldnt do anything till you get the gauges and install it.
And the link I posted is to the page for Bob's with the low water pickups..
I would get more jbweld the fast setting stuff ..
And DO NOT use Bondo on it little harder sanding but Bondo won't last
You do need to fill the inside of the lower unit from the side pickups to where you drill and tap For the hose..
other wise you will have water sitting inside the case and if it freezes can crack the case

Bobs comes with the hose and fittings but its just a black hose and I wanted something that looked better
Kit comes with all you need except will need more epoxy/jbweld to do it right

That fitting is on bottom of block on starboard side follow that up to the next fitting and just before there splice the tee in for the gauge can get a pic tomorrow if you need one.
I'm sure someone has a diagram
