    How an AR15 works (animated)

This is a good animation of how an AR15 and M16 work.

That may be the best animation on how it works. You can actually buy all the trigger parts to make it full auto or 3 round burst. But installing them is a big no no.

I made an "auto-sear" for my Mini 14. Well it was a shim that went in between the firing sear and the interrupt. Would shoot twice for every trigger pull, but was not full auto.

Franklin Armory makes a binary trigger that is much more refined and legal in most states. I bought one when they were in the process of removing bumpstocks. I figured the triggers were next. https://franklinarmory.com/franklin-...-bfsiii-ar-c1/

I agree with everybody here - that animation is fantastic. A few years ago I bought a Smith & Wesson M&P 15T but haven’t gotten around to using it. I think I really should.

When I was in secondary school ( 70's)we did 'cadets' one day a week and then several camps each year.
Under vague supervision from the army, but we got 7.62 SLR, nato thing to shoot.
There was a large army camp just down the road from school so we went to the range a few times
They had film on how the gas recoil worked for us kids, was very cool in those days, I guess they had plenty as it was the gun ozzies used in Vietnam. Forward scouts and a few others were allowed M16's.
Several of our teachers were vets but none were infantry, or they never said?

Rifle was probably the old but good M 14. But it was heavy, larger magazines to carry compared to the M 16. The 5.56 were just as deadly. 7.62, and 5.56 are .308, and .223 civilian. And the"Ozzies" we're a tough fun bunch! And I don't think I ever had mine on anything but full auto. And when had to pull tower guard at the tank farm. Every 20 minutes, all let loose with 16's and M-79's. Spent the time in between stripping mags and load one up all tracers! Nam was sure fun at times!

The FN-FAL, very popular 7.62 rifle. I believe some countries still use them.
