My dad was good friends with Archer. I pretty much idolized him growing up. He's the one who got me actually really interested in fast boat. He passed of cancer probably 22 years ago. My dad used to take pictures at all the races. I have a bunch of Archer. He ran a bunch of different boats. He told me he ran a checkmate, then an allison, hustler tunnel then a few other tunnels. I have pics of the hustler the cobra pictured above and a different 530 boat. I also have pics of him driving a brown white tunnel that had 1188 on the side. I still have a speedmaster patch and a few pins. Super nice guy. My dad told me Archer once took his gc off and gave it to buc Thornton so he could run his class. I haven't posted a pic on here in a while ill see if I can post some pics this weekend

One that comes to mind was he flipped one of the 530 boats when he was a lap up on everyone and the boat landed right side up and the only damage was the hole his knee knocked in the deck when he was thrown out. He said he thought he was fine just. Said he woke up at 11 that night and his leg had swollen up, he couldn't walk and he had to throw his keys out the window to let someone in his house to take him to the hospital.
Said somebody wanted him to run a v6 boat when they came out and they let him try it out where he tested. He said he ran up to 90mph or so into the wind and it felt good. Said he turned around and hung it out. He said it was like 25 or 30 mph faster than any of his raceboats and it scared him so bad he said this ain't for me. He said the guy who took his place came in last in the race archer was suppose to run.
He watched me run my checkmate once and told me if I trimmed up any more I'd find out what it felt like to blow one over lol
