Question about Clarence Archer,OPC UI class driver from DC

All I know about Clarence is that he took second in UI class at the Marathon Nationals at Lake St. Mary's in 1974, and he was from Washington DC. I have heard that he was very successful in racing out east and that he passed some time ago. Does anyone have any info on him or pictures of his boat from that year or other years?

I raced with Clarence in Maryland and Virginia in 72 and 73 . He had a Hustler with a B.P. on it. He was a really nice guy and member of the Speedmasters boat club. His nickname was Stix. Sorry to hear he passed.

I don't remember George. There was a boat with a stacker on it at most of the M.D. races but I thought it was driven by Stu Maggert.

I remember the "Speedmasters" club. Several of them were at the Nationals in Miami. I didn't meet any of those guys cause they were all running boats above my pay grade.

Speedmasters, a great group. Several of them usually show up at the Leonardtown vintage events each year.

Thank you for those clues, you wouldn't happen to know his boat number would you?

I don't remember his boat number. You can probably find out more about Clarence through one of the members of the Speedmasters that is still around.

Art Kennedy won, Clarence took second, my Dad, Bill Richter took third. Terry Leatherby stuck a piston and didn't finish. There were 2 other drivers in UI but I never could find out who they were, dad doesn't remember.
Here are some pictures of the start, Art is #147, Bill Sr is 328, Terry is #898. The other boats I know of are UJ class (100ci); Dick Ingebretsen #185, Duane Timm #245. I was looking for anyone In the pictures that could be Clarence Archer, but I don't see any BP powered Hustlers that are visible in the shots.

Yes, I have seen Rudy Foote, Bobby Alford, and of course Herb Gaskins. Herb makes almost every event.

Way in the background in the last picture I see Bill Rowel's number. Could that be CG125?

Yes sir, that would be him driving Bill's Zonkercraft as a UJ with a Twister 1
