Need to build in a lightweight rear seat 6' wide 18" deep. Thinking 1/2" ply with 3 braces, 5 counting the end pcs. Any suggestions ?
Thanks

1/2" ply will work fine. Use good glue and seal the crap out it.

The rear seats in Randy's liberators are some of the lightest that I have ever seen for a bench. They are made of 1.5" square alum. tubing. You might want to check with him on the dimensions and see if you could make one work or modify it slightly for your needs. Much easier then dealing with glass lamination-"No rot or moisture absorption either"

Just some ideas - I built my seat out of sheet aluminum. You get all your strength in the bends. Then it's just 4" foam, upholstery that is Velcro'd in. Velcro in the front flap, the seat back, and under the butt area. Aluminum angle iron bolted to the sides of the boat to mount it.
Not saying my way is best, but could spark your own idea?
Before I went this route, I was thinking of the fiberglass bench seat pans they sell for Sand Rails, Buggies, and side by sides. (pictures below).

You did some amazing work on that whole project. Must have taken a lot to beat that sheet into submission. I like it. Thanks.
