    Going rate to bore and hone. Steel bore

    Took my 2 260 port ff blocks to shop to be bored and hone bringing my own piston s vs shop supplying piston s is the rate different

    Most shop rates go by the cut. 1 hole, 8 holes, doesn't matter. Price is per hole.
    Same as surfacing. Cylinder head resurface - Most shops go by the surface.

    Last winter, my local shop was $25 per hole to bore & hone. $30 per surface

    When you call your local machine shops, just ask their price per hole, and per surface. Also, bring it to them stripped down of course. Pistons, rings, and bare block.

    Did all that I had them do a dozen blocks for me over last dozen years I guess next time I will shop I guess it was easier as I didn’t have to ship them out

    I was talking with a fella just the other day about fair 2019 pricing for boring on a dedicated bar.
    Power hone, using a torque plate, multi-step plateau honing, finishing with a reverse rotation Osborne bristle to break away any burr's in the RK.
    I'm afraid neither one of us can compete with the following ....

    the shop that is doing it builds race snocross and cross country motors and outboards that win the race and stay together so i get that they have the stuff and charge more to be done right, i got a kick out of your post chaz lol
