Most shop rates go by the cut. 1 hole, 8 holes, doesn't matter. Price is per hole.
Same as surfacing. Cylinder head resurface - Most shops go by the surface.
Last winter, my local shop was $25 per hole to bore & hone. $30 per surface1) 1995 14' Bayliner Restoration <--Click

Averaging 35 a hole here. That price shouldn't matter where piston comes from

I was going to say cost of living here or is it cost of toys determines shop labor lol

When you call your local machine shops, just ask their price per hole, and per surface. Also, bring it to them stripped down of course. Pistons, rings, and bare block.

I was talking with a fella just the other day about fair 2019 pricing for boring on a dedicated bar.
Power hone, using a torque plate, multi-step plateau honing, finishing with a reverse rotation Osborne bristle to break away any burr's in the RK.
I'm afraid neither one of us can compete with the following ....
But @ $ 25 bucks to bore and hone .. U cud prolly say , hAy bud .. wile yUr allrediy@ it , go head~an hit them uther fIveholes fUr me wood ya ..?
