Since everyone is getting into EV cars battery tech is going to improve, why not incorporate a solar panel in that glass roof on Teslas?

Where I live I might never need to use a charger, My brothers Model S came with lifetime free charging as a sale incentive, Now I know why he just moved, He

said it was the Red Tide problems, But now I'm thinking the free Tesla Supercharging station just happens to be near his new home

People are happy to install charging stations, while they wait they spend money in the store.

PS What is a parking meter?

Naples has two Free parking garages with talk of a third...

If you own a Motel Hotel would it not be to your advantage to install charging stations>

The cost of these charging stations is fairly high. One guy I know with a Tesla has a solar array to maintain his car. Had it for years. He hasn't plugged it into the grid yet. BUT....He only drives it local and will take the gas guzzler if it's not charged. So it's more of a novelty to him. He uses it like we use our fuel burning muscle cars. It all comes down to what people want, and we still live in an "instant" gratification world.

If you own an electric and plug it in every night, you will save on every day you don't drive a gasser. The cost per mile is ridiculously cheap. Range is now not an issue at near 400 and counting.

Run the heater or a/c and lights and drive it like you stole it and your range may vary...HAHA, down to more like 100 miles....So I am told by the owner of a very quick Tesla. This is real world not sales dept. talk. I know a lady with an older volt. Really likes it and uses it as a daily driver. But once again only local...

If you drive like an idiot you shouldn't complain. Folks drive them all winter long up here , just do the nightly and all is well for daily use.
When it's totally snowed in , roads with a few inches or more most people wait for the plows anyway.

The city of Naples has more discretionary income then pretty much any other city in the U.S. Not a good example.... Most cities and states in the U.S. are strapped and it will be long after I am gone that roads will "become silent" with e.v.. The coal that it takes to produce this much energy (assuming 50% of the citizens went to electric vehicles only) will outweigh the air pollution of today's low emission standards. Imagine what it would take to have half of the cars in every parking lot plugged in. Plus how are the guys in Dubai going to keep the supercar manufactures in business if they lose the oil sales-

I do think that it will become vogue to own one for a "run around town car", I mean we have a ton of golfcarts doing it now so we are almost there in many areas.

You'll follow the rest of the first world nations and replace coal in the years ahead.

A parking meter is an extortion device used by the city for means of parking on their streets. It employs parking enforcement city workers to fine you when you come back ten seconds later than the time on your meter ran out.

As far as EV being a fad, I would say we're seeing people's driving habits change. Young people are moving back into cities. You keep hearing aboot the gentrification of poorer neighborhoods. EV's serve these people very well. All things evolve, fighting it for the sake of what you're used to is silly.

To trade an existing mode of transport, for another mode that is basically consuming the same energy and creating the same pollution is not a win/win. It's the same old, same old...Just a feel good short sighted profit maker. The "experts" have a long history of coming back 10 yrs later and saying, remember the stuff we promoted a while back? It was flawed science. Sorry about that folks....

This is not a fad, wake up and smell the air pollution

I see a Tesla truck in my future, as long as it has a 400-mile range,

my brother said he'll Will me the S(he 10 years older), his wife will not drive it, she HATES when he floors it

I told my brother that we have high impact fees here, about $38,000 per house, he laughed, In NY we pay people to come here.

You do realize that when the temp drops to certain low, the batteries have to be heated to function. So if you don't keep it in a nice heated garage, you are going to have problems.

Look it up. It is common knowledge.

Green energy is only 18%. So where does the other 82% come from?

And IF 50% of the car owners went to electric, how much more of a strain would that put our power grid in?
