For small batches like spot gel repairs I’ve used disposable syringes for measuring catalyst accurately to a fraction of a millilitre. One of the drug stores near me actually gives them out for free (targeting diabetics).

03-26-2019, 10:23 PM #20I agree Instigator. An accurate catalyst dispenser is essential equipment. Disposable Plastic Pippettes are useful for measuring catalyst for very small mixes. And they are reusable. Along with a set of digital scales. For small mixes a cheap set of digital kitchen scales works well.
If a supplier is mixing up their terminology between MEK and MEKP, I would be finding another supplier. That is going to confuse a novice who is not as experienced as you fellas are. There are other catalysts besides MEKP, like CHP and BPO, which might prompt a supplier to ask which one you wanted. But there is a huge difference between MEK and MEKP. Methyl Ethyl Ketone is a solvent used mostly for thinning epoxy and clean up. I don't thin epoxies with MEK personally. But it is common practice. Methyl Ethyl Ketone Peroxide is a catalyst.
