    2.4 200 on a 2.5 1 piece adapter?

I have a blown 2.5 EFI (92ish model) with a 1 piece adapted and a 2.4 200 carb motor (89ish model) that I want to use for the mean time. I know they will bolt up but I dont have them apart yet and dont know if there will be any issue with the water passages and also if the tuner will work correctly. I dont want to kill the bottom end torque if the tuner is to open for the 200. If anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated, I'm all ears.

Kinda what I was thinking but with that being said, is there any difference in how the upper motor mounts work. The 2.5 has a single ram trim and the 2.4 has the self contained 3 ram. I have options for each so are they interchangeable at the swivel bracket or are the center sections different? Also which one is preferred and why?

The adapter will bolt up to a single ram. Best thing is to use the adapter that goes with the motor.

Thanks. Do you have any preferences on which trim setup to use?

Not really I have both, the 3 ram lifts faster.

tha chrome bore will act jus fine ona one piece with 260 type coolin' (which you should already be runnin')... they did it for several years ahead of tha 2.5's arrival.. bridge ports, oval ports, formula's and such... it's tha steel bore motor that had some concerns ona one piece.... jmo.

adapter plate/plates, down housing are tha only things that will interchange with each clamp/trim assembly... clamp, saddle, trim, steering tube are different with each..
sounds like you have an "offshore" clamp and such.. its more desireable to most runnin real stem winder motors where some prefer tha three ram for normal hot roddin' around cause of tha extra room (in tha bilge), less weight also but not as strong as tha offshore...

I'm thinking it's a steel bore because it's a stock fishing motor and so as far as cooling goes, does the steel bore need to run hotter or cooler than the chrome bore? I was planning on modifying the cooling on the 2 piece plate so I could control my PSI and temp somewhat

tha only "production" steel bore 2.4 built was tha XR4 150... all other 2.4's are chrome unless they have had sleeves installed.. temps are debatable.. i like heat (more than most) thats controlled.. heat makes horsepower in any motor ya jus gotta control it..

That's what I get for assuming. Thanks for the info. I've got 2 of the 200's but I am trying to avoid learning the hard way. I removed the can from one of the center sections and ported it (mainly for sound) but now should I be concerned about back pressure?

92 mirage ski racer. It's all there too. I dont know the exact number but it is not a light weight boat. It's been sitting for 10 years and I finally was able to get my hands on it.
