Link, Sync and air mix for dummies johnson oceanpro 130 v4 looper
hi all, having a hard time tracking down info on an easy to understand link and sync and air mix adjust procedure for my oceanpro 130, 2000 model, have read the joe reeves but seems to be for the older crossflows. i realise this will be covered in the manual, but bought this engine as a "basket case" and managed to rebuild it without the manual so dnt see point to buying one now when more than likely i will be selling it when my etech is rebuilt.
The problem is my motor seems to run out of revs at 4900 rpm, but otherwise runs well, it has been suggested that i have possibly gotten timing wrong when i set it, can anyone please help with an easy to understand version (for dummies) of how i can do this on muffs at least till i am out on water, as our boat ramps are super busy and attempting to do it there isnt really possible..
Am sure after my fruitless search that others would benefit from this also,, thanks in advance for any help you can offer...

If I remember correctly, set the scribe on the cam with link loose. Plates should close same time. And only mess with timing if you suspect someone messed with it while fast idle was active. 5 rounds on carbs out from all the way in. Prop for 5500-6000. Adjust for good plug reading. Tend to like rich.
Practicly every omc from 90-01. Now what the time * should be at that’s random as omc reliability.'06 Tracker All-Fish/Tournament V-18 90 Optimax, 46.8 gps Goal one complete reach 45 mph.

Best bet is to find the factory service manual for your particular motor. I have a clymer (i think) and the factory manual is hands down better. I got it on ebay for less then $20.
Link and sync procedures are VERY model specific. Make sure you have an accurate procedure before trying anything. I would recommend NOT running the motor again until it is adjusted properly. If your timing is that far out, it can and will melt a piston.Last edited by SS Minnow; 03-15-2019 at 11:45 AM.

On the muffs, disconnect the link rod to the timer base, run the engine at IDLE, move the timer base to it's stop (engine will rev a little) and set the timing to 2 degrees shy of what it calls for.

Thankyou kindly for the exact response i was looking for, i have actually found this exact info after many hours searching since i posted this, but its great to have confirmation that it will work.. easy to understand, easy to do and most of all easy to check against how its already set, dont understand why so many make such a simple adjustment seem like such a scary proposition...

lol, is that the best you got,
Was here for help and i got what i needed, boat is now running perfectly so minnow just because you need a manual doesnt mean the more "mechanical" members will also struggle without one as you clearly do...
Please resist the urge to visit or comment on anything to do with my profile,i have blocked you as you are aware, but being the pair of losers you are you cant probably help yourselves (that includes you 'home made tunnel' try pull your tongue from minnows ass, lol)
Try to see it from my point of view "arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon, no matter how good you are, the bird is going to **** on the board and strut around like it won anyways"
now be gone you useless pair of idiots, am sure there are plenty of gay sites much better suited to the pair of you...
