Ur gonna need a 4 or 5 in jackplate,,they r 4 sale pretty cheap here and there,,powerpacks only if ones messed up,(not firing)
U really need water pressure guage and can b obtained really cheap and very easy install, but I would least raise motor up on transom if it will allow , prob start round 2 1/2 in under pad (prop shaft) how many bolt holes can u come up on transom?

can go up 2 more holes, but top of bracket will be above transom, will this be ok or should i look at somehow trying to build it up higher or just make jack plate?... will this setup be good in choppy water and will i need to change prop at same time? thanks

These r just tips to get max performance, u can always drop down prop size and b done , but if u had ss prop and plate it's a big difference, take a timin lite to lake and make sure all 4 firing

I read and replied to your other thread regarding your motor with the linkage being synchronized and the motor timed correctly. I can only recommend that until you have the timing and throttle sync right, by factory specs, that you do NOT run that motor. Great that you were able to rebuild that motor without a manual, but the adjustments for carb/timing are VERY model specific. Unless you can find somebody that has the manual that contains the information for your motor, you should really re-consider buying a manual. They are not very expensive particularly if you find one used. Good luck.

Regarding the powerpacks; Ive owned my mota since new and over the years it stopped winding up as high. When it got to a lazy 5000RPM I figured it was time for a rebuild but the motor was fine it was the powerpacks that had slowly died in output. All cyls firing just not as well as should be. Replaced both power packs and instantly back to 6000+ RPM exact same set up. Playing around with engine height by moving up holes is WELL worth the effort if you dont want to wait for jack plate installation. As for sync carbs/timing that sure sounds crucial but never had to touch any of that on mine so cant help ya there. Hope some of this helps you out there are far more knowledgeable members here than me

16' Baja, 4" manual plate. 55 mph gps with a 23 SRX. It was a bit slower but more useful all around with a 21 Renegade. Propshaft 3" below the pad, but it wasn't critical. I could go up or down an inch and not change more than 1 mph

Same boat, 115 HO Etec. 67 with 26 small ear chopper and with 27 Hoss copy. Too much prop for anything but bragging. It ran 64 on the rev limiter with a 24 Raker, and it could accelerate and carry people. Just under 50 with a 17 Stiletto 4 blade that we used for skiing

Same 115 Etec HO on a 19' flatbottom ski boat (J Craft). 52 with the 24 Raker, 48 with the 17 Stiletto.

I need to sell the Stiletto and the Raker

hi Thunder. If you are running 80 km/h with a 17 inch prop you are revving way higher than 4900 rpm. Assuming you measured the speed accurately, you would have to be turning over 6300 rpm to run that speed with that prop. Check your tacho settings. If they are correct then you need a new tacho. You should be able to spin a 19 inch prop easily. 80 km/h is not bad for a cheetah with a 17. If you jack the motor as high as suggested then your ski boat will no longer be a ski boat. The cheetahs are not light so you will end up with a boat that is not that fast, but it won't pull the skin of your porridge. If your cav plate is level with the bottom then it is pushing through the water and is too low. If you were having problems with the cav plate an inch above, then you have another problem. Looks like you are in Qld. I am near Newcastle. Send me a private message if you would like to talk. Greg
