e tech 115 or ocean pro 130
hi all,
have a few motors all needing work and having trouble deciding which one will make my 14ft ski boat that i use inshore go the fastest, i have a 2000 model 90 degree johnson ocean pro 130 that is on it at the moment, it does 80km/h at 4900 rpm with a 14.125 x 17 prop and it accelerates fairly well, i plan to cut down diameter of prop to try get revs up to where they should be, a 06-07 60 degree 115 evinrude e tech, an 60 degree optical 90 johnson 99 model, and finally a 90 degree evinrude 89-93ish 225, i have reinforced transom with steel and glass tied to floor stringers, also have just made pods to counter some of the added weight so they should all be able to power the boat without the back sitting too deep, thanks for all responses,

I'd suggest finding an interested person and see if they'd trade you all of your motors for 1 merc inline 4.

yeh, thats the plan for now, am going to rebuild it next and see how it performs before making a final decision, the electronics connecting to the lowrance is definitely a big "plus"...

We had very good experience with a 115 HO Etec, but sold it when we bought a bigger boat. It might be a bit heavy for a 14' boat. The Etec weighs more than the old carb V4s

If you get the E-tec make sure the exhaust valve has the latest version with the grease fitting. The only downfall to the v4 is the exhaust valve in salt water. Maintained properly it works great. If it doesn't work you will be looking at $4k bill from the dealer.....
Id suggest a slide intake for your promax...
