86 Bahner tunnel 18 boat
I just purchased this beautiful 86 Bahner tunnel boat with a hopped up 96 Mercury 225 that is tuned to run on 25:1 mixture. The previous owner said it was hopped up and he didnt know exactly all that was done to it besides race pistons. The engine cover had holes drilled in it to allow more air in it. I read a bunch of history about these boat and its in unbelievable condition! Please feel free to comment and let me know what you think the current value of this boat is? I know they are ver rare!

25:1 ? Why would it need so much oil?

Cool boat. Motors don't require that much oil and it will only increase your chances of fouling plugs and turning a day of boating into a day of hard starting, stalling and wrenching. My advise is mix your fuel at a max of ratio of 40:1 if you are going to be doing any extending idle zones-the boaters around you will be much happier and you won't spend so much on oil. We mixed high rpm motocross bikes at 32:1 but we had a clutch in one hand a with a throttle in the other that allowed us to keep their throats clean when they would start to load up. 20:1 was recommended back in the days of air cooled motocross bikes and the manufactures trying to reduce heat seizures (everyone carried a box of plugs with them back then).

Thanks Joe that’s what I was thinking myself. Does this boat require 93 octane?
