It has been 6 months or so since i went online to check price. After seeing some articles showing available as drop on powerheads. I am guessing the 300xs is a 3.2. Price was more then i would consider vs new motor that was still in box at several places. My melon head works off flawed reality. Lets see...new motor 20k..-cowl and side pans 17.5k-mid with offshore clamp and pump 13.5k-sportmaster lower 9k. Started searching part number. Found it priced in the 12,000 range. It did not mention a core charge or not. But at 12k anyone with a bad 300xs would benefit from selling old motor. Even with a bad hole a 300xs should fetch 6,500 or a little more. That and 12k would buy all new motor vs new powerhead on old exhaust plate to skeg including old cowling. Now that thinking is out the window or will be shortly. There may be 50 new 300xs motors in the US still in the crate. May be less than 10 left.

$12,500 list for full dressed drop on.
Didnt spec 3.0 or 3.2.
They are in stock.I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Interesting. So if this is the case will they eventually stop making the reman powerhead as certain parts are depleted?
If there is a core charge I wonder if you can keep your accessories? As we all know the Opti has some pretty pricey parts. If you go the reman route and can keep the parts selling them would offset the price a little. Going with the reman might be the best way for me to upgrade from a 250xs to a 300xs. Thought about a used 300xs but it would have to be a low hour fresh water motor. Most of the stuff that comes up for sale the RPM history doesn't jive with total hours and that gives me a rash. Maybe the 300R will eventually flood the market and some good, low hour, unmolested 300xs motors will be out there.
