Yeah you right! Can’t get away with nuttin with up here lol. Not so sure about the good part, just crazy enough to try anything and stuff the others are too skeered to touch.
Got the heads on, squish is .057. Things got 20 head bolts per head with 2 shorter on each side. Short ones go in spots 5 and 8 on port head and 7 and 10 on stbd head. Bolts torqued to 30 nm or 22 ft lbs.

Got her all buttoned up. Put a bell tuner in it, modified the liner and the mid section to send more exhaust through the grated outlet above cavitation plate. Got the first hour idle time on motor, did it in gear so all six cylinders would fire instead of only three. Fixing to look into just jumping switch so prop ain’t spinning and not hacking in clutch dog at idle. Sounds good with a deeper tone. Didn’t get pics of of mid mods because we where slinging crap last night. I’ll post pics of vst pump filter and assembled motor when I slow down from work

Really nice work you have done there. Stray HPDI question. if you have a regular old Yamaha temp gauge that is correctly attached to a 3.3 motor, where should the needle sit roughly when you just in the no wake zone?

Thanks for the compliment. I’m not really a Yamaha guy, so learning as I go. This boat only has a water pressure gauge, but from what I can tell from fooling with this one, they have 122-125 degree thermostats, so water temp should be around the 125-130 degree range and head temp a little higher than that. On the Yamaha gauge with no numbers, havnt a clue, can only guess should be around the middle two single thin lines??

I tried bypassing the neutral switch so mine would idle on 6. All that did was reverse the operation. It would idle on 6 but then run on 4 in gear. Blew my mind... apparently it looks at both the switch on the motor and the one on the shift lever/control box.

Yeah, tried it at lunch and didn’t work here either. Agree must be using both. Just been idling it in gear.

Just checked temp on this one where cylinder head temp sits in block after 30 minutes of idling and got reading of 133 degrees

When cust heard it running, he was grinnin like a mule eatin briars. Kept referring to how much throatier and deeper the tone sounded. Gonna get some compression readings on it after finish the idle time, then time to head to the water with it and continue break in and get some low rpm/ low load plug readings to see if we gotta make any changes before cust takes delivery to complete break in.
