Just keep in mind....as far as I can tell the hpdi motors do not have maf, map, or o2 sensors. That means the only sensor that communicates load to the ecm is the tps. If you modify engine characteristics much, the ecm won’t be able to accurately infer load/air flow and therefore fuel flow may be incorrect.

Yeah, another reason not getting to crazy with it. Just trying to customize it a little for what he was looking to get out of it, and keep it on a budget. (These things are crazy expensive, no wonder you don’t see much info about them lol) From the little info I have found Hrdro-tec has made some pretty good hp without modifying ecm’s. I went over all this with cust and explained to him we may have to send ecm’s off or get some for 250 or 300. I do the initial idle time for pistons and first runs on the water, so I can get a good look at how it’s doing and to make sure all is good to make it through break in. Thinking about adjusting throttle so it can’t open all the way and let him run it until broken in. Then we go out in it and monitor plugs at different rpms and make sure it’s not leaning out. Then go from there.

Thanks for the compliments. Normally Don Nickels near me does the majority of my machine work, he does top notch work and can go to him personally to go over what and how I want things done on custom things. I do have a boring bore and do small jobs like this myself. Chaz is doing the heads on this one for me, and got a 3.0l next to do with a bad hole. If the head is messed up, they’re going to Chaz also because of them being o-ring heads. I do all my own porting and anything I can do by hand.

Well , this is what I found outside my gate ...
Good thing Forby did the round and round and round and round wrap. Them heads wern't slippin out no little hole like that ...
Wait, wut's that I see under the light ...
Better go in for a closer look under the magnifier .. Pppfftt No wunder FuMP said : "Now ya done it " He musta know'd Yamaha cast those heads out of junkyard Cadilac's ehhh ...
Only had time to pour a chamber to get a baseline .
Lets call it 79.2 cc
More importantly @ this point, (besides fixing the damaged hole) is that a 3/4" reach plug leaves 2-3 threads exposed. Bad for power to "hide" the plug. Even worse if (when) they or a fleck of carbon start glowing ..
Best fix is the flat that the gasket seat's on should be plunge cut until the plug body is flush or protrudes slightly.
Then re- CC'd
Then we can fill in the blanks to make a ed-U-ma-cat-ed guess ...

I built a 250 HPDI with a 250 EFI operating system. The motor is still running after a thousand or so hard hours. Its a beast. Don't trust the High Probability of Destruction Imminent operating system.

That’s interesting calikid. I know not of the efi fuel system is there, but you had to swap out the throttle body and efcu, add injectors and rail, and plug di injector holes?

Built it with all OEM Yamaha stuff. I used everything off a blown up OX 66 250 EFI, '96 to '04 will work. It's pretty much bolt on. The exhaust cover, throttle body, fuel rail, vst, ecm, pulsar coil, and stator, will go right on. The boss for the O2 sensor is there you just have to drill it out. Use the hpdi flywheel, and the stock hpdi reduction gear starter will mate right up. You can use the 6 pedal reeds off the hpdi, they are nicer than the 5 petal used by the efi. Pretty strait forward.

Here's what the rest of the numbers look like on the chamber ...
With such a narrow squish band and deep bowl , I thought the bore was going to be bigger than it is .. I recon thats why we measure stuff ...

Raised exhaust port, has a little more chamfer on port than appears, but I do not put a lot on the exhaust port, only enough to protect ring (it’s a direction and amount of flow thing) The large factory chamfer is gone as the actual port is at the hieght of the old chamfer.
Cleaned and prepped boock
Two upper bearings
Two o-rings in lower cover
Anti- rotation pins on both upper bearings sit in pocket in block and locating ring in groove of upper bearing.
Crank set in place. I also added a couple drops of bearing mount between center mains and block to prevent any movement and chatter of bearings.

Piston comes 0.008 out top of deck and has rounded dome of 0.165. Uses a 0.020 thick head gasket paired with deminsions of head Chaz provided.
