No update to 4.6 liter V-8?

So it looks like Mercury didn't unveil any major updates to the new V-8? Maybe later this year? Moved the inline six 400 from Racing to regular but no news on a turbo or SC V-8? Did I miss something?

I'd still like to see the V-6 ramped up to 275-300 for us small boat guys.

I don’t think the regular 400 is identical to the racing 400. It doesn’t have the sportmaster, for starters. I would imagine some other differences as well. The regular 300 4.6 is pretty different from the 300r.

Merc website shows regular 400 to have a 200 rpm lower power range than the 400r.

It will be a while before they slap a blower on it if they do. They are still behind on orders of the 300r it sounds like. No reason to release new tech when old tech is selling like hot cakes

It's coming. Probably why they introduced the non race 400 Verado. Because once the 4.6 becomes a supercharged 450R, no one will want the current 400R. Rumor is Mercury had issues with supplier of the heads which is why it wasn't at the show.

Depends on the price. Remember the price of the 400ros?

And did they ever iron out the issues with snapping prop shafts of the 400R ? And customers losing $5,000 props to the bottom of Davey Jones' locker?

You may be right. I've heard Merc is 6 months out on 300r. Either they are having supplier issues already or they don't know how to build them fast enough. In either circumstance, there's no way they release a new engine if they know they can't make them. John Deere doesn't release new combines when they have 2 year backlogs
