I don't see how this cowl could be the original to this unit only because the bottom of the pan hits the top of the tiller arm. Can it/should it still be used, I like the look of it and would like to find decals and repaint it and the mid section.

U have Lots of things going on at moment , that's a pretty cool cowl but it's not stock , fine to use it tho, u have pre 83, but it has 14 pedal front , only motor came out with that front back then for fishin motas was 2.4 225, the 2.4 200 had vertical reeds, have u looked behind throttle timing arm for a build date?? But then again the top adapter plate for 1750 2.0

I am eliminating some old motors out of my shop. Have many parts you my want and they are cheap. Several midsections, blocks, cranks, piston/rod assemblies, carbs, intakes, you name it.

See if you can get a picture of the bottom of the block. So far looks like a formula 2.4 with a 81/82 225 power head. But that plate don't belong under a 225,unless it's been cut.The original formula heads would have been stamped .100 at the top by the gasket,I don't see that on your heads.

Here you go: Nothing stamped on the top of block near head gaskets.

Ok,that power head don't go with that plate.200 powerhead, early 175 plate. The .100 would be on top of the heads. Only if they were formula heads.

Thanks for the input, so there are some numbers stamped in to the block half but I can't make out the date exactly. I will post once I get the pic off my phone but looks like possibly 79 also below on same side it says Factory Remanufacture with a Heart symbol and a U. Sounds like I should be looking for a 14 pedal front with some wh 20 carbs.

Ok, I'm going out on a limb here and say this. I think that what you have here started out as a 1977/78 formula 2.4 motor that blew up,someone replaced it with a two liter 1750 175 hp power head, then at some point got a 1981/82 225hp 2.4 power head to replace it.Witch leaves you where your are today.Btw, your cowl where it says formula 1 ,originally there was a small sticker over the 1 that said "2.4"

Thanks, thats great to know, wow a 225 that's more than I hoped for. So on the 2.4's do they get the extra hp from the porting or the carbs or a combination. I hope to have that thing going here in a month. I'm going up to see Rock for some parts soon. I'll be posting video's and pics once I've got a running motor. I like the sound of "Formula 1"...lol I'm sure the guy that peeled the sticker felt the same, It has to make it go faster... less parasitic drag without the sticker!

Difference in 2.4 200 and 2.4 225 ,in that yr is horizontal 14 pedal front and big bore wh20 carbs, it was crank rated hp also at the time , in 83 that motor became 2.4 200 with horizontal front 10 pedal and old 2.4 200 vertical motor became 175hp. Prop rated Just little info on em
