Had a roomate with one. In one his many expensive attempts to master flying it, he attached a rope to one of the copters skids and staked the other end into the ground with the predictable result of it crashing back to planet earth after he flew all the slack out of it
If I recall he eventually bought a training platform that the copter would be bolted down on that prevented it from outright crashing.

I tried copters but crashed too much and gave up. A few years later quadcopters came about.

I used to have a Raptor helo like that. .60 size motor I believe. I was about 18 years old and got pretty good with it. Could hover upside down, and fly it around. Simple maneuvers like loops / rolls / hammer heads. I couldn't do the tick-tocks and spiraling stuff the fancy guys do, but it was loud and aggressive. Scary to be around sometimes with the rotors gong so fast haha. I learned with the long "X" rubber band mounted to the skids. The ones with the plastic balls on the ends. Those helped to learn takeoffs / hovering pretty good.1) 1995 14' Bayliner Restoration <--Click

Before I bought a heli, I bought a simulator and spent 3 months on it before I bought a bird. I haven't had the Raptor airborne yet. But I have several hours on my TRex 500.
I just looked for a video I "had"... Seems it was lost on my journey to Windoze 10. F ing microsoft!!!

Much easier than heli. And not as scary. Easy to learn in your yard. Goggles make it really fun. Most do 80mph plus.

I so happy to see this thread, because absolutely love flying helis. I still fly one several times a week and it’s just a great stress-reliever. In some ways it seems like the golden era of RC helis has passed, with the focus being on drones, but I’ll always prefer helis for the flying experience and challenge. I’ve begun working on some 3D flying and I use my Blade Nano CP for that, which is nearly indestructible. I also fly my Blade 500 a lot, which I absolutely love. There’s Sandi with my Raptor 50.
