timing on 2.0 mercury

That's a gud question where many think differently. Whit that said ,my early 80s vertical 150 said 21* max 18 0r 19* with black boxes installed , I did crank nine up one day and swear I kept hearing a lite tapping/knocking sound on hole shot with big wheel , it was a stock motor , with ur mods ,play it little safe , what's ur compression #s

I would say that's a gud bit of cranking compression for notch motor, start low on timing til u get a good # from sumone

I'm guessing this is a 2.5 motor? No .ore than 23* is needed , depending on boat weight especially, idle relief motor can take a 34cc head on prem gas , which sounds bout like what u got , was ur heads cc'd?

This is a 2.0 heads are 28cc

Ya 23 fine on premium, now this is on a 1000-1200 lb boat at max , I'd back off just a hair
