To me this is absolute nonsense, if your lake is small have boat size and hp restrictions. I’m not of fan of wakeboard boats but doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be allowed. if you bought house on the water and are worried about waves sounds like bought the wrong house. I do agree with 200 yards or so rule. I’m sure go fast boats are hated all over and if they ever try to enforce a sound limitation we will have a hard time on outboard that are surfaced

That has been a law on many states books for at least 40 years... Unfortuneately its a difficult one to enforce/prove, but I wish it would be taken more seriously, as I've always lived on the water, where many people don't give a rat's ass about they're wake & the damage it causes.

Correct Wildman, they leave curling wakes that the US Navy would be proud of. Some (many) of the wake boats will leave a wake that is bad news for the stern end of a stationary jon boat.

It's like many other things in our world. We know we have a problem, but nobody's been killed yet. (Hint: This would be the best time to do something.) If we don't, and somebody gets killed, nobody's going to like what they put in place because it will be a political solution as opposed to a rational solution.
I can just see the interview (of the wakeboard boat driver) after the first fatality. "I had absolutely no idea that my (5 foot tall) wake could do any damage." Yea, right.1992 Progression 22

Two years ago I pulled an 80 year old man from the water and his small tin boat back to shore after it was swamped by a board boat.. the operators of the boat were the biggest load of pricks I about have ever seen after confronting them with it.

Yeah. On the interwebs lol
The ones I've seen are from the operator of the bow rider not knowing how to run a boat through large waves.
On the flip side I guess being on a lake they ouldnt get much experience with large waves. Here we are out in 3 footers all the time and I've been in 6' "chop" many times. We dont get swells in the bay.
Also I can't really speak from experience because we dont get those kinds of boats here.

I hate them as much as everyone else on this forum - but hate government intervention even more.
I vote NO LAW. Let me use my old school 2-stroke jetski out on the lakes.
Take the turd-churner boats out of here, and let the turd surfer boats stay. At least the turd surfer boats usually have hot-chicks on them lol.
All I see is big boats and big waves on the ocean. The only scary stuff I've seen was on the annual Connecticut River Run, when you have a 60-70 foot yacht going full power up river, and a 6 foot tall wake. Then his waves 200 yards behind him have already bounced off the shore, and come back into his own wake, and now you have 10' tall waves out of no-where! Damn near swamped myself several times trying to navigate through those in my 13' tunnel. I know the right and wrong ways to go through a wave-set... but that scenario is just nuts.
NO LAWS! Let them surf and get a punch to the mouth when they get back ashore.1) 1995 14' Bayliner Restoration <--Click

I have been swamped a few times by cruiser wakes in 12 kph (7.4 mph) zones. It happens in a tight channel where is no room for anything but to go straight into the wake and try (sometimes with success) to use the throttle to keep the bow over the waves. You can't legislate courtesy or sense. When I was a kid there were no speed limits on a lot of these channels. People drove stupid and we got speed limits. And people still drive stupid.
I'm sure people get pissed with me water skiing at 8 am. That's when it's calm and our motor is reasonably quiet (150 Etec).

"Back in the day" we used to wake surf behind a 36 foot Hunter, dragged one hell of a wave. Having some class and some brains, we did it in the main channels (open water) where all wakes are equal.
Typical of "Today" youngsters have no class and very small if any brains. Yes, more laws, we reap what we sew. As fellow boaters we should have removed them to open water a long time ago.
While ranting, why didn't we fix our government while it was possible?
Rant over, Thanks. ;-)Wriggleys gum makes me think of boating, "Double your engines, Double your fun"
