How do things so blatant and so very consequential go unchecked in 2019 ?

That story is lacking so much. Says that the suspect and 10 others are now released. What do the 10 others have to do with this?
How did that guy get held for having laundry detergent for 41 days, and only one person is catching heat for it? Is that how it works there? Deputy was the only one at fault for what exactly? If the deputy arrested the guy, and 10 others, does that not get handed off to a states attorney for prosecution, lab for evidence analysis, court system for bail etc?

A little more on the story, but still bad journalism. The reporter has no idea how our justice system works. Not surprised.

My guess is the dude did this on purpose so he could sue for wrongful arrest and such..... easy to do, put some laundry detergent in a smaller zip-loc bag and get pulled over.....

Those field test kits are very accurate. The cop just wanted to bust all those people. He knew it was tide....

Story was in local paper. The 10 others are people the officer arrested over a few week time frame. It was field tested and officer claimed he has positive for drug result. The 11 or so arrested were not connected. The state attorney at some point lab tested the evidence to start building case for prosecutor. After the negative result. More of that officers cases were pulled. Over and over no drugs were verified. Now the question of the day. Was there drugs at time of arrest? Did officer steal the dope and replace? That is what i am waiting to here. If he did steal the dope. He would have had a better chance of not getting caught. By simply taking the dope and telling criminal it was his lucky day and not arrest him.
