    225 promax questions

I have a 225 Promax that has been rebuilt with new cast pistons, tightened heads to 145 psi, steel caged bearings, and had balancing done to the rotating assembly. I'm mainly just interested in river/lake running and some short runs at WOT. What limiter should I put on this ECU without compromising to much of the longevity of the motor?

Keep it at 6500 -6750 and it will live a loooong time. jm2cts, other opinions will vary.

That's just the stock limiter. I'm looking to push the motor a little harder just for short runs. But 95% of my riding will be 5000-6000.

keep it under 7500 for long stretches and it will be fine.

I have an absolute ton of hours on a promax that will turn 9k+, but I only do it in short bursts all long runs are propped to 74-7600.

FYI ...When I build a cast piston steel sleeved engine ( 225 PM) that I know the customers is gonna “Lean On” I send the pistons to 300 below in Decatur Ill. for cryogenic treatment, tightens the molecules up big time and allows that cast piece live better than it would just as they come out of the box ...$100.00 a set of 6 plus the ride ..

I will assume you have deleted the oil injection and running 40:1, stock Pro Max flywheel would keep it under 7500.

Dave, I am running a 16 amp lightweight flywheel. I'm not sure how much of a difference that makes.

Your upper crank bearing will like the light flywheel, if you want to turn it higher Jay has some good advise. If no porting has been done 7500 is a good number as won't make powèr above that. IMO
