    Merc four-stroke 115 ProXs tell-tale temp

Dad’s brand new, 0-hour 2019 115 merc proXS four stroke runs fine, but the tell-tale temp discharge guessing by hand barely got above lake ambient lake temp. Lake was low-mid 50’s and I guessed the stream to be no more than low-60’s even after 30min of on plane, break-in operation. Is this normal, as I’m used to feeling a slightly scalding temp after 5min or so of running.

Hmm, ok. Maybe we’ll see about adding a temp gauge

A bunch of engines tell tale comes from the water pump before the water enters the block. Temp of the tell tale can be same as lake water while motor is melting the plastic oil cap into the valvetrain

On the 2.1 L the Tell tale goes out before it enters the thermostat. Its quiet normal that the tell tale is just a little bit warmer than the Lake temp.

Temp gauge wise, met monitor or smart tach, speedometer just plug in and give about all engine data. If it came with Bluetooth/WiFi it will hook up to a enabled fish finder or your phone with merc app.

Came with no engine monitoring installed, other than a tach. I assumed all the fancy schmancy new compu-outboards all got sent into the wild with multi data gauges, but I guess not

Not to hard to install if your wanting and have the $$ I suggest the WiFi one these days as it will work with the app and enabled depth finders also won’t confuse the dash.

dhould note it reads water temp in the water jacket not head temp.

The tell tale is before the t stat and doesn't go up or temp much over ambient. With the water temps low this time of year I wouldn't expect the old hand temp o meter to be able to tell a difference
