What computer diagnostics software do you use to detect faults, run history, etc.

I'm looking for a tool that would hook up to my laptop or iPad to read the outboard's ECM, faults, warnings, the motor's run history, etc.

Rinda has one for laptops. Shows the same data as the handheld, but able to save, and print. I recently bought the handheld unit. I works almost exactly like the Mercury handheld.

I use an OTC 4000 with the OEM cartridge with the OEM leads that attaches to engine and OTC

What motor model are you trying to read? The mercury DDT (OTC 4000) is the cheapest and easiest to use solution. The only problem is you can't buy them new anymore but have to find a used one.

Website says thru 2017 models are supported. Probably coming soon. All the older Mercury/Mercruiser Racing models are coverd thru 2017...

looks like something I learned with my Radio Shack 600 in 1 kit back in the early 80"s
