Merc 115/ Four stroke pee temp

Dad’s brand new, 0-hour 2019 115 merc proXS four stroke runs fine, but the tell-tale temp discharge guessing by hand barely got above lake ambient. Lake temp was low-mid 50’s and I guessed the stream to be no more than low-60’s even after 30min of operation. Is this normal, as I’m used to feeling a slightly scalding temp after 5min or so.

The 115 4strk. is hard to get warm at idle or low rpm,s. You said 0 hrs., so break motor in you should be fine. keep motor trimmed in to break in correctly.

Temp were after 30min of mostly 3500-4000rpm, with the occasional push to 6000. Engine was 0 hour new when we started

If your motor is running cold, it may have thermostat stuck open. I highly doubt it though. usually will only stick open when used many hrs. in salt water. I am almost sure on that motor. that all pee stream discharge does is cool fuel system VST. I would just run it & not worry about pee stream temp. GOOD LUCK.

Iirc tail doesn’t run through the Block. If you’re over 30 psi though it would over cool.

I have a 4s 60 but I’m not the guy who works them all the time and no book handy.

Dont think the pontoons 60 ever had a warm stream either.

I’ll keep a check on it frequently as possible next time to see if it’s maybe cycling through cool and hot or if it’s a side effect of a break-in engine mgt setting

Perfectly normal for it to not get warm and only be right above lake water temp.
