So I have a few empty 6.5 cases and a 30 round magpul magazine. It will hold 5 with no prob, the 6th you can feel the mag start to bulge, but I will still fit in the magwell. The 7th and 8th make it bulge to the point that it will not fit. And 10 you can visually see its fatter than it should be.

I have several very successful AR 15’s and AR 10 builds all from Palmetto State Armory they furnish the customer very top quality uppers as well as thier lowers theses builds are pretty straight forward I replace all the stock mill spec triggers as I hate the heavy pull numbers as well as the long take up and gritty feeling . I get on optic planet site and buy their 3 lb single stage AIM triggers for $109.00 simple drop in application and buy a magazine that’s proven for the caliber, if your upper has a non adjustable gas block ( which all PSA does ) I own a Bear Creek Armory upper that doesn’t and it the infamous 6.5 Grendel caliber that a lot people are having issues with and after a ton of reading and help I’ve whipped this build’s ass I found the heavier buffer and correct magazine is the key for this build to be successful !!
Im not one to get whipped by anything , now that I own 2 full functioning 6.5 Grendel’s I’m ready to move on to the next venue , I’m going to give one to my son in law for Christmas , he and my grandson are my hog hunting buddy’s
Peace and good shooting !

Ok, I'll bite, I've got a 22lr. model, but that don't count, a 7.62x39, 6.5 Grendel, 300 Blackout, and 5.56 with a pencil barrel, 18 barrel, M-4 barrel in black and FDE furniture, what is the next venue, I'm always looking for a different caliber to build and screw around with????

I think I’m done with building the AR platform weapons, it was something I was interested in but after I kill hogs with all of the black guns I’ve built it’s time to move on I’m getting where they’re even stacked in a corner in my assembly room , I do admit 99% of the time when I head to the stand it’s mostly at night I use my “death stick” so my son in law calls its a Ruger American Preditor in 6.5 Creedmoor caliber with high end Swarovski lit reticle atop it stays on the back seat of my truck 24-7 I’ve got so many pictures of killed hogs on my phone and all have a bullet hole behind their ear , this bolt gun although not stock ( barrel cryogenic treated , barrel full floated , timney trigger ) it is ridiculously accurate and is my go to no frills weapon , if a person wants or has need for a potential 1000 yard accurate rifle it’s a hell of a bargain at less than $400.00 ...
Good shooting !

Does the 224 drop them good? Or is shot placement important?

Well 99 % of my hog shots are behind the ear SOO I can’t say about a shot to the lung or other areas with the 224 I do know that the 6.5 Creedmoor will drop them with the behind the ear shot to but leaves little to no blood , the 224 will leave a pool of blood the size of a car hood maybe speed of bullet ? You’d think the smaller 224 round would not leave a blood pool and the much more powerful 6.5 Creedmoor would , ????
Gorilla , educate me !!
