    24 skater what motors

Picked a 24 Skater no power and was thinking mybe a single 400r but uall showed me the light !!! Ok 200s, 225s 250, 300s, EFIs XSs ??? I run the river above Havasu and would like to run down to havasu springs without getting a home loan for fuel, so are the XSs the way or are the EFIs close but less parts to take care of ? And last but not least SPEED !!!! Havasu Springs run is 65 mile and love the idea of being there less then a hour for breakfast, Not so much top speed but 100mph a must but more high mph crushing speed, above hop or below??? I've had a Silverwing with old V8 then twin 260s and a Mirage with 200 efi and then a 260 so not my first day, First Skater so let's here it.

I just re-powered my 24 Skater from 225 promax's to 300x. The 225's were great on the boat saw a best of 103mph but a would run 98/99 everyday. With the 300x motors I am now running 112 with 1.75 gears and 34 pitch props but I can cruise at 100mph. the 300x's do eat a bit more fuel but I haven't found it to be crazy. Also get a set of Dewalds for it. The weight of the 3L did change how the boat handled. Just took sometime to get used to.

My choice would be 300Xs or 300x

The XS will use just over 1/2 the fuel of an X. You have 60 gallons a side so your run can be completed on any of the motor combinations but the XS is most fuel efficient, then X, and then pro max 300s use the most. All of them will be fast when its set up correctly. The torque that they make compared to what you have had in the past is night and day. The X motors (my opinion) look, perform and sound the best. You can also change out powerheads later if you end up with X or Pro max 3 liters-you can keep the cowls, midsections, and lowers and drop XSs on them.

If budget isn't a concern, rig it with a pair of 300R motors and everything mentioned gets better again.

Best cheap option would be 225 promax's in my opinion as you could still run 100+. Most fun option would probably be twin 280's. Most practical would probably be 300xs's.

You should have a good few mph left in her with 300X's. Neighbor at our cottage had a 24 copy with 300 promax's that ran a best of 114 or 115mph. Should be closer to 120mph I would think

This boat is not Jason’s first rodeo, it will be very dialed in I assure you.

I've done a few 25 Liberators with 300XS motors. They get 3.7 mpg at 55 mph and over 3 up to 75. 2.4 mpg if I run 90-100 all day

Has anyone done twin 200xs motors on a skater? I really liked my 200xs on an ally, but have no clue what a twin setup on a cat would be like.

I am only running 1.75 gears......with 1.62s I would be over 120 with the right props........ don't care about top end. it pulls like a freight Train!!!!!

My Talon 22 ran liked a raped ape with twin 200XS's. Is a 21 Skater that much heavier ? That's interesting.
