    Supposedly it allowed you to trim the motor up far enough to be completely out of the water. The OMC engineers somehow forgot about waves, wakes, salt air, etc. Good thing they got everything else they touched right! Yea, it was an awesome idea.

    Steering, setback bracket, and engine all built into one unit and the ability to mount to a completely flat, y’all transom. Execution and probably marketing were poor. I can see where it had it’s place, though.

    1. More room in the boat, at that time it made many small boats feel bigger.
    2. Full transom in a following sea.
    3. Some boats liked the added set back. Gill brackets were in style at the same time.
    ...maybe the idea could be better refined today. The 80’s OMC Lineup wasn’t as bad as most think.
