1/4" may be too thin, especially on flat surfaces. As soon as you give plywood a curve, it becomes MUCH stronger though. My front deck that has a curve, and the rear hatch behind the seat are like STUPID strong. No flex. But the tunnel bottom being flat under my feet flexes a bit when I stuff the tunnel. Nothing to concern me at all, but I can tell its bottoming out sometimes in rough water, or when going slow and it slaps, I can feel it flex.
But yes, mine was 100% 1/2" plywood. African Okume mahogany marine ply. Bought from Boulter Marine in Massachusets.
