R/C Boat Plans
This is my (fast looking, but slow) New Bright Pier 57 Fountain Super Vee Light boat... It is so slow its not even funny. Listen to what I am planning on doing. Taking 2 (well 1 for right now since they are like $100 per) new Kyosho Dolphin Outboard II's and sticking them on the back... WHat ya'll think. THis possible. I am just wondering, how would I get these puppies to steer right. With these motors, would I have to change the controlls, or could I just connect the 4 (2 from each motor) to the main computer chip stuff as the old one? Any help or advice is appreciated...

Just a thought
The boat you have is some what small & has subsurface (under the bottom of the boat) running gear.
You'd need to remove the shaft log area & fill it in to get the bottom back to trueness.
But getting back to the first statement about the two motors. I don't know if it would handle the weight of two motors & all the cells needed to run them. Plus the boat is quite skinny.
One motor-- sure. But the speed will be in question. It could fly.
Here's a link to some of the guys I talk to about r/c boats.
Talk to the guys at RumRunner racing also... they really know their stuff (world record holders for fast electrics are members there).
Give me some more info on your speed control size. If you run too many amps through it, she'll fry. Try the one motor for now, make sure it has plenty of cooling air, or water coil.

thats my Offshore Mono with the twin 800 motors. I havent ran it yet I am waiting on a couple of custom parts. I estimate 30-40mph top speed. I will be running 20 cells to each motor.
As for the topic of this post.
It depends on how much money you want to spend. The angle of the prop is very steep. One dolphin would be good but then your going to need to gut everything else and put in a good radio and speen control. By the time your all said and done you could have bought a faster better boat. Now dont get me wrong spending money on this boat and building a rocket out of a dog sled could be fun and rewarding!

if you really want to be happy get one of the $50 dollar kyosho radios and an $80 boat kit. it'll be close to what you would spend for both motors but alot easier and faster. plus you'll see how its all donr and get a feel for it. then you'll have better ideas if you still wanna mess with the boat you have now.
Don't lick my boat, It makes it sticky!

Thanks
for all the advice guys... I have thought over the whole situation and have decided its going to be too much of a pain in the @$$ to rebuild the boat, which would, knowing me, break when I am working on it... I found the boat that has the same Dolphin Motor I wanted, with miminum assembly. Its the Kyosho Wave Master F-1 Tunnel Hull EP Kit. Its $99.99 US at Tower Hobbies.
"This is a Semi-Scale F-1 Electric Tunnel Hull Kyosho Wavemaster Boat.
FEATURES: Prejoined hull and deck constructed of ABS plastic
Almost ready-to-run, requires only installing radio gear, assembly
of the outboard motor, and applying the decals
Comes with the Dolphin 550 outboard motor for scale appearance and
performance (entire outboard moves to steer, not just rudder)
Also includes forward-only micro switch speed control and decal sheet
On-board radio and battery gear mounts down the hull centerline to
improve overall stability and a water-resistant hatch protects the
gear from water damage
INCLUDES: Micro Switch Speed Control, 550 Outboard Motor with Cover, Decals,
Servo Tray, All Necessary Hardware, Boat Stand, and Instructions.
SPECS: Total length: 27.8" (705mm) Beam: 10.8" (275mm)
Hull length: 23.6" (600mm) Height: 7.7" (195mm)
Weight: 3.5 lbs (with radio)
REQUIRES: 2-channel Radio with 2 Standard Servos and Receiver Battery Box
6-cell Battery and Charger
Building Equipment
Although not required, any paint that is safe for plastic may be
used to paint the boat & the outboard motor cover (like Formula-U)
COMMENTS: Kyosho makes a water cooling coil for electric motors that will work
well with this outboard motor (the water cool pickup is already
molded into the outboard frame"
In english, can anyone tell me what I'd have to do to get this running?
By what I've read, I'd have to buy the radio(what else with it), install the outboard motor (does this mean I have to play with the steering of it too?).
What are servos and receiver boxes. This kit looks pretty good to me, except for the fact I'd have difficulty puttting it all together.

Sorry no more discounts. The shipping would be $20 in total. The shipping is for US stuff. I make no money on shipping. I would need a misc payment of $10 extra.

I tried
so 189.99 + 20.00?
I'll see what I can do. What kind of speeds do I expect with the 770( or 700 whatever it is)?
