suggested prop pitch for vegas xt with 225 efi

just arranged to buy a 300 hr 2000 mercury 225 efi to put on my hydrostream vegas xt. bought boat last year with blown motor so i have no experience with boat. has hyd jacking plate with 6" setback. all advice welcome. considering sending lower unit to bobs for low water pickup.
i'm familar with a vpad hull, voyager with 200 merc. how does xt differ in top end and in handeling?

hi dave, nope, still stuck around 5300, but I have picked up a blown 2003 200 efi that i'm carefully swapping parts on. was really disappointed that the computer swap didn't fix it. but, it purrs like a kitten and running high 60's is still fun.

On prop i would try a trophy or maybe a tempest. 24p all around. maybe try a 26 when running light and trying for 75 mph. i am assuming your motor is limited to 5800 rpm. should have 1.75 lower on a 3.0 liter 225. trophy and tempest come in 25 pitch. 25p would be better then 24p with 2 or 3 on board. I am a cleaver hater. but for the big mph the cleaver is a hero. the only downfall is for the few mph on top. boat will be a slug getting up to top speed. cleavers slip all thru mid range but if water is long and straight boat will get topped out after awhile.

I have not tried a mirage. But i think it is similar to the 2 i mentioned. I would go with any one of them as long as cond is good and price is fair. I have bought many clean props off ebay at a cheap price. Kinda of sucks with my Eliminator that has twins. Easy to find a deal on a single prop. Finding a match pair in L and R is tough other then new.
