I saw the new 21 J Crafts on Saturday. Pretty cool to see a new boat design. The bigger size should work better with the newer big motors and should have a flatter wake for skiing than anything. Except maybe our 2 year old 19' Since we own a J Craft, we got free T shirts.

Did you get to see a price? Is that a true flat bottom? Rick

Nice to see someone is still making a ski boat.....not an aircraft carrier with 28 speakers, 6 amps, 8 ballast bags, 2 navigational computers, an autopilot, shower, wet bar, shower, laundry facilities.....
    did I miss anything?
Drink holder......the inside of your wetsuit or between your legs.
Need some extra seating......bring the cooler!
and ya gotta love metal Flake!

David, that's a long way for you to go to see one boat, because there likely wasn't much else you'd be interested in! Did the torc or drag group have a display? I haven't attended since I helped out at the torc booth a number of yrs. ago. walking through there was pretty boring other than seeing the Tuff exhibit!
Greg, you missed the make-up mirror!

It was a quick easy 3.5 hour drive to Toronto Saturday morning. After the boat show I drove another 1.5 hours to our cottage. 5 hour return trip on Sunday. Yes, a lot of driving. But I go to the lake once a month in the winter to check on our place and my mom's place, so the boat show was not a big detour. I like to look at the new motors, the wakeboard boats, watch the wakeboard show, and hang out with my family at the show. My hope is that my next door neighbour and water ski buddy buys a boat we can surf behind. I'm certainly not buying such a boat.

The J 21 price depends how you look at it. Way less than a cookie cutter wakeboard boat. But not cheap.

I have attached pictures of our boats bottom. The new hull is the old 19 hull scaled up to 21 in every dimension - with a couple of simplifications. At any rate, the bottom looks the same as our boats bottom, just bigger. It's not a quite true flat bottom, but close.

Thanks David - looks like you were right in the plant to get those spy photos ! I thought I heard 60k Canadian funds - must have had power for that . I did not attend the show but Ted from Speed Master spoke about the new hull . Glad to see it . Not too many slalom skiing these days . Wake boarding and surfing behind the new Mastercrafts looks fun but plays havoc with anything docked due to the water displaced . Nice boats though. Thanks for showing us and bringing us up to date . Did they mention any glass tech, and wood free build technology .

I wish these people well. We need more water skiers and this new hull looks like a great platform for both camps and the old die hard's that are left out there.

Curious how the new 21 footer compares to my older 19' hull for ride and wake displacement for slalom skiing

Thanks LMT383. Cool video. The new J drew a lot of attention at the show.

For that matter, the attention was a shock when we bought our J Craft. Everywhere we go people come up to talk to us about it. Our J gets way more admiration then my SS2000.

The new J is built with quality resin and balsa core. I saw some of the build of the red one. If you search for my build thread for my boat you can see how they are made.

Compare to our 19's? I don't know that I'll ever get a ride in a 21. It's bigger so it should ride smoother. The wake can't be as flat or maybe it can. More weight from a bigger hull and motor, but more area, maybe it balances out. Our 19 rides a lot better than I expected for a flat bottom boat, but we get wet when it's rough.

My Father bought a new 16ft j-craft in 1970 with a 125 merc on it, we had the boat for more then 20 years.
Our old j-craft was purple flake with white seats.

My father still has his 16ft 1970 J. Apricot flake. 2nd owner, bought in 1976. Had a 70 Merc 115 on the back...that died after 40 years. Then replaced with an 83/84 FrankenMerc 150.
