CMC power tilt trim
My 1st post so I hope this is the correct place for it. I recently bought my 1st outboard powered boat after decades of stern drives. The little boat has an old 80 Merc without power trim, motor runs good. I’m looking to add the CMC tilt/trim unit with a 6inch setback, any comments on the product? Thank you for any input.

I had one years ago. Worked well it is pretty heavy. Might be worth looking at is if you could swap the OEM power trim on the motor.
Just a little Cat.

The 80 Merc on the boat is a 1978, back then they used the twin ram set up for trim. Parts are pricey and getting hard to find, between the pump, rams and lines I.m not sure how much weight difference there is. I like the idea of the self contained CMC unit but I’m concerned about durability.

I used one for 2 summers then sold it for a lighter unit on my 10.5 cat.
The CMC never missed a beat but 2 years is not very long so.

Thanks for the input, what did you find for a lighter unit? I,m working on a Starcraft/Carlson CPS15 for summer as a little runaround boat on the local rivers. Port Huron and Anchor Bat area. Maybe up to my brothers place on Sanford Lake. Pretty sure I would get run over on the Saint Clair river. LOL
