2008 Merc 250 pro XS questions
Hey everyone,
I'm in the market for a Merc 250 or 300 25". I found a nice fresh water 2008 Merc 250 pro xs near me but it's a 20"
1) How complicated is it to convert from 20" to 25"? Is the mid section longer? Or is it a 5" spacer?
2) Main differences between the XS and Pro XS? Going on a 23' Concept
Any input helps,
Thanks!

The factory made a longer mid for the 25” motors. I’m not sure about the newer big motors but Bay Manufacturing makes 5” spacer kits for many motors.

So mid section is different but lower unit is the same? I assume mid sections change throughout the different manufacturing years. It seems like it'll be easier to find a 25" motor.

Nitro is right, Bay makes a 5 inch kit which works fine. Last time I looked was about $600 Kit for you is #613

I have two 25" mids for a 250XS with single offshore rams. Come to Florence, SC and pick which one you want. They were off a boat I repowered and have been in saltwater, but in decent shape.
The bigger difference between a 20 & 25" 250XS is the rev limit. The 20" mids come with a 6250 rev limit and the 25" models have a 5800 rev limit.

The XS will have the upper solid mount Exhaust adapter also.
