Electrifying a gas boat
Just dug out the last of the F1 style tunnel hull's I used to build and market. It's a 44" long vacuum formed ABS hull that had a 13CC K&B outboard on it. All the mechanicals and electricals are shot with the exception of the leg and mount from the nitro motor. Thinking about resurrecting it using electric power, but know nothing about how to go about it or what would be required to do it. I understand there are adapters to mate a motor to the K&B leg, but that's the limit of my knowledge. Hopeing someone who play's with this stuff might have the parts to sell or point me to them.

A 44" tunnel is going to take at least "Q" class power. One alternative might be do do a twin "P" set up. No matter what you power it with, Electric or Nitro you will want the new generation DSM radio systems. A lot has changed.

Yes, thanks. I think there are a few who do or did play with these things. Hope they will stop by this thread and add their expertise.

Yes, things sure have changed. Don't know what "Q" class is, or DSM, Guess I'll be starting all over again if I pursue this project.

You might remember AM radio systems. Then they went FM. Now it is digital. (Like everything else.) No more need for channel frequency. The transmitter and receiver 'bind' when turned on and nothing will disrupt it. The electric classes use letter designations such as P and Q.

DSM = Digital Spectrum Modulation, which is now outdated. I had my DSM transmitter fail and bought another, a DSMR. The DSMR (ground) and DSMX (air) is the newest and latest 2.4Ghz. Neither are compatible with the old DSM, or so I am told. So my new DS5C will not work with my old DSM receivers.
Anyway as I understand it, the DSM2, which is still supported, finds two clean channels and stays on them. The DSMR and X have many frequencies they jump around in. So if you are flying/boating with 100 other people, you are good.
