    Rub in a Figure 8 motion on a 12”x12”x1/4”
sheet of glass , first clean cage and spray surface to be lapped with machinist lay out dye let it dry then rub on 220 wet and dry sandpaper till all dye is removed then go over it with 400 to give it a smoother texture ..
    Works for me

Got my cages lapped..used 400 grit wet dry then run them across 1500 grit a lap or 2 just to take sharp edges off......old machinist and mechanic habits are hard to brake..

A surface plate works great too.

I was a doofus and sold mine.
    Will be replacing it soon

I have a surface plate to but didn't feel like digging it out and then cleaning it back up just to put it away again, so i used a piece of automotive window glass i had as i can just put it back where it was without cleaning up the mess, im old and lazy.....lol
