1969 Mercury 1250 Super BP Racing Outboard

1969 Mercury Super BP Race Motor – Serial number 2642263
One of 249 made in 1969, this motor was 100% restored and rebuilt 5 years ago and has never been run since. These original block motors are getting very scarce and hard to find in any condition.
Powerhead - This is the true SBP block as defined by the serial number, fuel pumps and starter bracket designs. Many “SBP” motors these days have 1350 blocks and are not real SBP powerheads. This powerhead includes all new .015 oversize pistons, rings, bearings, seals, gaskets, you name it and it has been replaced. Entire fuel system and carbs, ignition trigger, wires, everything. Completely stripped, primed and repainted. Brand New inner exhaust baffle plate and inner water jacket baffle plate. All threads chased and heli-coils installed in any questionable locations. All new bolts and hardware were used.
Mid-Section – Motor does not have the original Mid housing but has a replacement BP mid-section as these were prone to cracking. It has no serial number plate on the mid but the serial number is clearly stamped on the starter bracket on the motor block. This mid ALSO is the correct BP mid as it has no upper mount holes for shock absorbers or trim cylinders. These used a fixed transom fixture to set the trim angle. This motor WILL NOT accept standard power trim rams with the current clamp brackets on the motor. The fixed trim fixture is available for an extra $500.
Lower Unit - This motor has a MC-1 twin pinion speed master lower unit that has been resealed and pressure tested. Turns very smoothly. You can still find parts for these lowers and they are pretty much bullet proof whereas the original BP lower units were known to self-destruct. The MC-1 lower unit used a 1-inch SHORTER driveshaft than a standard 15-inch mid. Basically it is 14-inch midsection. That requires a shorter mid-section adapter which this motor has installed. Please bear this in mind if you plan to run this. A standard SSM or standard lower unit WILL NOT bolt up to this without a different, one-inch thicker midsection adapter. The MC-1 lower unit was the factory issued lower unit used on the Twister and Twister 1 in line motors, before the SSM came out.
This motor has been shown at several vintage shows and has one scratch on the top cowling. Otherwise this motor is a 10 out of 10. It has been stored inside in a climate-controlled room (my living room) and turned over and oiled every year.
I WILL NOT ship this motor. Pickup only. No trades unless you have Mercury 1500XS, T2 or T2X racing stuff.
    $6500

All the Super Bp's came out of the factory without the stacks. that was an add on kit that most installed. required additional machining to the block as well.
