Fixture for holding the hull when recoring an allison hull.
I will soon have a stripped down to the hull Allison 15' clone hull that i plan to fixture up and start recoring completely in a few months.. I would like to set up a GOOD fixture to have the bottom as straight as possible during the coring process. Looking for ideas that others have used. pics please?
thanks

About finished building one to hold my Hydrostream during its restoration. I need to secure the vertical 2x6's that are on the strakes, but it's about finished otherwise. Thats a 3/4" piece of aluminum plate to keep the pad as flat as possible during re core. I think I have about $250 in material tied up in mine.
Here's a link to the thread where I got the idea from.

Good luck with yours!
Edit: I should add, I'm no pro at any of this. This just seems like a good idea to me. I'm a welder by trade, so what do I know. haha
Edit two: Added pictures of the fixture completed.Last edited by tnelsmn; 12-11-2018 at 10:23 PM.

HOLY MOLY that's one heck of a jig !!! You could have gotten away with half that. Plywood aint cheap either! I can't imagine how much time you spent trimming those to the bottom profile.

Thanks, Tunnel! I've been keeping very close track of my time and money on this project. The completed cradle cost me $310 for all material, screws, etc. I do have a few left over boards, and I should add that I got the aluminum plate for free. And I have 27 hours into building it.
I'm done highjacking the thread now

I normally start with a box built from 2 x 12’s, squared, leveled and bolted to the floor.
Then pick up two strakes, fit bunks to them, then tie the hull to the base.
I have a picture somewhere of my old Vector w/the starboard strake at transom an inch and a half in the air while the port one was flat on its bunk!
Always believed that’s part of why that boat ran so well.
I cringe when I see pixs of the guys redoing one on a trailer I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.
