Rub Rail Replacement
Assuming the rub rail removal process destroys the aluminum rail and rubber insert, what is the preferred source for replacement rub rails, if any.
Generally, I believe I have the patience, temperament, tools and experience the remove and properly store the rub rail, what if I am wrong?
Where do I go?

Taco Marine is a good source for rub rail replacements. You are correct that with patience many times a rub rail can be removed and reinstalled with minimal/no damage. It's not always possible and many times the rail is dinged up anyway. Replacement is the best option in many cases.
