45 mph! That is where we are at with the boat so far. Mike is double checking prop specs and I will then post.
He has tested three props and that will probably be it. Up to me after that.
As I have not been in the boat yet, I will pass Mikes thoughts on...
The Etec 60 HO motor has balls. Great holeshots like he has not seen. Great midrange and going from 20 - 40 mph very quick.
He feels it is in good all around trim right now. Yes the motor can go higher and I will do that in the weeks ahead.
The motor is hitting an rpm ceiling of 5000 rpm's right now. Should be more rpm's in it.
Anyway, the re-distribution of the weight has not hampered the boat. Mike feels it handles as good as ever. More speed is in it too.
Takes time. More info to come!

Great thread! Beautiful boat. Enjoy it. Why is the rpms so low? Shouldn't they be around 5800? I don't know the rpm range for etechs. I am just basing that on older omc's. 800 rpm would be a whole lot more speed......if the pitch didn't change.

That evinrude looks really good hanging off the back of that boat.

I look forward to hearing how fast it goes when the rpm thing is worked and setting the final running height...........all that fun with good gas mileage too!

    Mike Biel checking in

Thanks to Ernie and all of you making this thread fun and informative to follow. So yes the test of the next gen Promise is a reality.

So far top speed is 45mph with a 23 pitch powertech style prop from Ron Hills back room Ha! RPM's are 5K.
Engine height is a bit low for speed but good for handling. Have not tried chopper or srx type prop yet, but maybe
in couple weeks when Ernie comes to pick the boat up. Obviously some less pitch smaller diameter props might help get RPM's up.

But here is the fun part; the boat and engine performed above and beyond what I was hoping for. It was windy and ruff conditions most of the time. Boat jumped on plane, turned, and blasted through two foot chop with ease. the 320 pound Etec did not hurt handling at all and gave me an amazing hole shot, plus would pin me to the back of the seat accelerating from 20mph to 45mph. Pulling a skier should be no problem! I'm sure the extended sponsons and front mount fuel tank helped also.

Most likely Ernie will post some videos in the next few days as I get them to him. All I ask is you give me some grace
with them as I was driving the boat with one hand and holding the iPhone in the other! Not easy or smart to do!

The builder and myself are working through some build specs and pricing updates to make these boats available to a broad spectrum of folks. Including an all composite wood free option.

Thanks guys always open to input

It's time to stretch her Mike. Just stretch the sponsons pass the front deck a foot an a half or so.

Well thanks to Mike Biel, we have a couple of vids to share. Slight chop, slight wind noise, but it gives you an idea.
It looks like the boat has real good punch getting on top. Handles rough water better than some. I think we can squeeze 50 out of it...
For my usage, top speed will not be the biggest factor. I want a darty, maneuverable boat.
So enjoy the vids, and lets hear what you think.
I hope to pick it up in a week (crossing fingers) and give Mike and Geoff a couple of big handshakes.
IMO a beauty little boat, and even better with the new lower 'windshield' that the originals had. I can see some pretty nice mph's coming out of this 13' boat!

Thanks gentlemen. Mike and Geoff take it to heart. Geoff (Domin8or is the big boat line) probably builds big boats 3 to 1 over the small boats. TLM's small boats are detailed, not just bare shells. They have an impressive operation in their building.

Mike feels the extended sponsons do help. Hard to define in a quantitive way, or maybe to explain to me, but he is excited about the overall package. The punch, the turning and the rough water handling, all impressed Mike. He mentioned good balance. Its probably been a while since he has been in his own boat to boot!
Even as a punchy 60 HP motor, it is one of the smaller motors mounted on a Biel Promise (Mike can correct me here?), that I know of.
It looks like it is chomping for more power! I think I will run it for a year and maybe consider a power up. I will learn it 100% first!
I hope to get a pic up like Demeanors famous pictures as the Biel Promise is a badass looking mini boat OTG. Cool stuff!

Lets see another Biel Promise roll out of the Twisted Liquid Marine shop! I may even sponsor a build to have a hull at the ready.
