I saw the shop today. Good things to come!
The first thing they spoke of was weight.
It will be interesting to see the next couple of color schemes...
Go Lavey - nice to chat with the crew. Thank you.

I dont think there was an accurate weight of my first boat. The number floated was 500-550 lbs.
They hope to beat that with this next build.
i believe the original Biel tunnels were pretty light as compared to mine.
As I am not the official Biel representer, so I can only speaking in generalities.
Time will tell. I may be in on a future Biel boat myself should it be even more 'Promising' than mine. With the molds landing at Lavey, good things should come.
Mine could be for sale at that time. The color scheme is so nice on mine, it will be hard to let go.
My upgrades for the future will be breathed on power, whichever hull I have.
I believe Mike's own boat back in the day ran in the 60's. Thats my goal, so I have a 40-50 mph cruise speed.
Fuel for thought.

Could be another opportunity to get into a Biel boat! I believe a couple more boats are being built.
Less weight is the idea vs deluxe on this go around. Mine was/is on the deluxe & heavier end. Get with Mike Biel if you have an interest.
There may be more purchase options. ...Rumor has it....(I am not affiliated)...

With Mike Biels boat being built on a limited basis, now is the time to be in contact with him. If he can get several deposits on boats they will come. One at a time makes it tough.

If USCG regs weren't an issue, what's the ideal 4 stroke to get this boat into the 70-80s?
Would a 20" ProXs 115 do it?Last edited by slow_bloke; 10-21-2020 at 11:37 AM.

4 stroke is a challenge. Mercury does offer a V6 that makes 225 but the true weight is hard to understand and it has no LWP.

If the molds are indeed at Lavey, I truly hope this is only a minor setback. RPM has Lavey lay up their cats as well. Best of luck to Lavey in sorting this out.

True as TwzteD says. Good read the daves link, with Lavey having a good reputation.
I don't see Biel building a row of boats waiting to be sold. Not yet anyway. Its a one off custom, or bare hull.
With Lavey going through tough times, Ultra has shown eager interest to build.
As has been said, bucks up boats people have cash. Lower priced boats & market, people are more cash strapped.
I do believe Biel has interested customers - its just a matter of timing with the economy.
These first couple of boats coming out could be a good turning point!
Good on TwzteD for jumping in.
