    Carlson challenger?

Hello all, new member here. Picked up this yesterday for a winter project.
The price was right, free. I know the front isn’t factory. Measures 14-1/2’ and claimed to be a 1968. Title is in a locked safe the guy can’t get open. Could this be anything else other than a challenger? Thanks for any info in advance.

    Doug

    Not sure how your measuring
    Challenger is 16 ft
    Contender is 14 ft
Cool boat looks alot differant with the front cut.
Fun boat on plane instantly but rides rough with the flat bottom.
Should have a fin on the bottom
They look so cool with a inline six merc

Thanks. There is no fin on the bottom, it tunnels then flattens out. I found a 1963 Mercury 800 that I’m considering buying for it, I think it would look good on it.

14 1/2 foot is definitely a contender, have one, do you have anymore pictures of the front end, that is kinda cool???

Thanks. Hopefully the dude will crack his safe and get the title out soon.this is the only other pic I have. I can take some more though. Supposedly the guy I got it from had the front done. The guy paid a couple grand to get the transom beefed up and the nose changed, shop went out of business before all the work was completed.Click image for larger version.

Yeah it’s pretty butchered up. The previous owner claimed the transom was built thicker and higher?? I’ll build a new dash. The spline running down the center will have to be replaced also:/ I’ve became decent at fiberglass after cutting my wellcraft in half and putting it back together.
