Glastron Carlson CVX16 needs all the wood and lots of info

I have a 1978 Glastron Carlson CVX16 that i bought knowing it needs a transom. My buddy originally bought this boat and realized it needed work after getting it home. He owned it a couple of weeks and we did take it to the lake once to make sure it ran good and it did. He sold it to me and I began the deconstruction process intending on paying a fiberglass pro to make the repairs after I tore out all the rot. Well after getting the 1977 Tower of power 150hp removed and the rear foam boxes cut out I stopped working on it for about 6 months while playing with my Hydrostream Vegas XT. Now its winter and I made space for the Carlson in the garage and am ready to get back to work. So far i have just been cutting out non structural glass and part of 3/8 ply wood on the inside of the transom.

I have never laid fiberglass so this is going to be a new process for me if i can gain enough knowledge about the process and enough confidence to get it done. I have however laid about a million miles of fiberglass type mesh embedded in concrete vertically up walls and horizontally over head while I was an EIFS plasterer for 6 years. So Im hoping I can use a lot of that old info in a new way.

I assume most of my questions are will be for layout advice, fiberglass process and materials.

Thanks in advance for all the help I get and I will get some pictures up ASAP.

This is where I'm at. Trying to come up with a good plan and pulling out all the funk. I was really just wanting to do the transom but the only 1 stringer right in the center is rotten in places while the floor and bulkhead are solid. Probably just gonna bite the bullet and do it all. Cant figure any way around it.

Transom has been replaced at some point with some kind of synthetic 2 layer board of which 1 layer is some kind of 3/4" fiberboard and the other layer looks like 1/4" plastic, then the thin layer of OSB laminated to that. You can kinda see some of this in 1 of the last pics.

Edit :PS can you see the pictures at the top of this post? I cant.

Plan is to build the hull to hold a 2.5 Mercury. I don't have a 2.5 for it right now unless my Stream sales less the motor.

It has a very small pad. High speeds are not the plan. If it runs hard with lots of response into the mid 60s I will be happy. And tough over fast because we have lots of wake boats on our small lakes.

Really like the stream 4 sale, just fraid it may need transom as well as floor. U like glastron better than stream?

The Hydrostream is by far way better built from the factory. And mine probably does need a complete rebuild but its been a great learning boat for me and I don't run it hard. I'll continue to use it until sale. I like the look of the Glastron better and it completely fits in my garage for storage. The Vegas stays with a cover on it under the car port.
