Looks great! I didn't know the 300r came with the ams midsection. I'm curious to know the reason that was selected over the offshore mid, steering options? Love the exhaust by the way!

Its a bit of an experiment. I knew I wanted the power steering so the AMS will stay for now but don't know for how long. The exhaust sounds good and will potentially help efficiency by reducing the amount of air into the blade path.

So how much did the pistons, head porting and new camshafts help ... ???

That's the bad part about telling a lie .. there will always be someone who remembers exactly what you said ...

PS .. the 57 chebby tail pipe looks .............. awesome

    Paul,

You know I have never payed to attempt to make something run better. I will say this, these guys have things figured out and the potential is crazy. That being said, the money gets crazy as well so I will most likely never experience anywhere close to their limitations but it WILL be respectable. Give me 6 months to get it sorted out and the world can see the results first hand. There was no lie told- what I said is that "I don't give up that easy and I will chase it until it works". This boat is weighs the same as my 24 skater so I had two choices:

old school twins or a big displacement torque monster single either of which I wanted to run on common pump fuel-

The performance outboard world is just getting started and this is verified by several people that own or have owned I/Os and new outboard technology. This is an interesting read and the video on post #11; https://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/general-boating-discussion/370039-mid-size-cats-450rs-vs-700scis.html

Indiana is a long way to go to just have a discount auto parts down spout installed ..
And yes you did say you were going to 'stick with it" .. However you made it clear that you were having head and cam work done. I was kind of proud of you for taking a step to be a leader instead of a follower .. now you state .. you said no such thing .. let alone doing it ... Perhaps calling it a lie was a little harsh. In this day and age I'll rephrase ... a bit of a mistruth ..better ?
    Sorry, not my style ... it was a ****** ******* lie ...

Intake structure, head and cam changes mainly-a little different exhaust note too. We will see how it runs if I ever get the boat back from the interior shop. Its going to be on my LCB and my goal is 100 every time out with 4 people and fuel --"might be a tall order but time will tell".

However I am in the process of updating the website to split it into a 2 stroke and 4 stroke category.

    www.MadEFI.com

Started with solid mounts both for the 450r AMS mids and lowers for the conventional style.

Apparently you don't get what sticking with it means (IT WILL RUN NO MATTER WHAT IT TAKES). I have many things in play right now with three different parties involved and you are not one of them so I don't know where you come off with your claims of what I am or am not doing (you have no clue). Hull modifications, Cams, pistons, and head work will be part of the equation if and as it is needed, variable valve timing and complete mapping hardware is also something that may end up being added to this platform "again, I am glad that Mercury offered us something new that has huge additional potential Vs. the dead end that we were at since 2001 with high performance outboards". I promise it will keep up with traffic, (even with twin Motions), run on fuel that is readily available, get decent fuel economy so we can go over a 100 miles a leg, be dependable and sound badass doing it. When all is said and done you are welcome to bring your boat up to follow or ride the drivers seat of mine. It will be a leader when we get it all sorted out and determine just how far we need to go in order to make it one.

The tailpipe was installed at Porta Products less then a mile from my house "Indiana handles pieces that are a little more complex then that but I am sure you will do something better then them before my stuff is in hand". Looking forward to seeing you back on the water instead of the screen at some point.
