Small holes in bottom
Getting ready to lay in the 1708 and balsa, and noticed some small holes in the bottom (some I made and some were small punctures). So I cleaned them up with small dremel.
To prevent resin and mat from dropping through the holes, I thought I would apply tape on the bottom(to save grinding when I flip it over)
Good idea?
What kind of tape?

Perfect.
Masking tape. Resin won’t stick to it.
Mix up some resin/cabosil and microfiber (1/8” glass fiber) and fill the holes when done.I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Great. Thanks. Some instructions say to wet surface with resin before laying in the mat. Does mean resin with or without hardener?

Pre wet the dry boat with mixed resin before you put down the glass.

i've had goos luck with clear packing tape. i only use epoxy on hull with fully cured resin. vynalester [sp] resin may also work, but i just prefer the epoxy. i would use tec-mix to plug the holes up from the bottom. the t-m has very good abrasion resistance.

I poked a couple of holes thru the bottom of my boat, DUH. Didn't want to just cover them up on the inside and have them pop off inside the boat one day while running down the lake at 95mph. So... on the outside I beveled the hole. Then put a layer of tape tight outside the hole but loose over the hole. Poked a pin thru the tape to let trapped air out. Then pushed the spooge thru the hole making a bump on the outside. In my mind it looked like an hour glass.
